A Mighty Fortress
If you've been on Broadway or Washington Streets in Northeast Minneapolis, you've passed the stone church known as St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Built like a castle, it stands as a reminder to our community of the Mighty Fortress that is our God. Our church stands to give God's refuge and peace to all who are wearied by the struggles of life.
Offering peace and safety
But don't let that fortress-like appearance fool you. We reach out in the peace and safety that our Lord provides. Our doors are open over 110 days a year, inviting all to worship the God who has spent his greatest treasure, his only Son, to rescue and reclaim us from our hopeless wandering.
St. John's, associated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), is a Bible-based church located in the melting pot of Northeast Minneapolis. St. John's is a multi-ethnic congregation with a strong commitment to urban ministry.
Check out the rest of our website. Or, better yet, drop in for a visit on Sundays or Wednesdays. For over 140 years, this congregation has shared the Gospel of salvation through Christ with Northeast Minneapolis and beyond. We invite you to share in the peace that only Christ can bring.
